The Kiki Challenge
The Kiki Challenge
The Kiki challenge has been discouraged by several law authorities worldwide after a few attempts went wrong.
Social media has become one place where something new constantly keeps on happening. After Ice-bucket, Mannequin, Alien dance, the new fever is of Kiki challenge. Netizens have gone crazy over this new fancy dance. The challenge is about one jumping from a running car and dance on Canadian rapper Drake’s track In My Feelings from his latest album Scorpion and then again hop back on the car, while it is still moving.
Well, this surely sounds interesting and also adventurous. But if you give it a thought, isn’t it actually too silly. And the craze is slowly growing with every passing day. Many celebs are constantly picking this up.
Celebrities like Nia Sharma, Priyank Sharma, Adah Sharma, Karishma Sharma and Bhumika Gurung shared such videos on their social media pages. There they can be all seeing taking the challenge and performing it in their own styles. However, most of them are seen performing the Kiki challenge getting out of a parked car. Kushal made it even funnier with his ‘camel’ video. But Mumbai Police has their own way of disapproving this dangerous stunt. They tweeted on their official page and wrote, “Not just a risk for you but your act can put the life of others at risk too. Desist from public nuisance or face the music! #DanceYourWayToSafety #InMySafetyFeelingsChallenge”.
Kiki Challenge: Bigg Boss Kannada actress Niveditha Gowda
- A complaint has reportedly been filed against Niveditha
- Niveditha said that she did not know about the ban on the challenge
- “I just saw the post on Instagram and tried it out,” she said
Kannada actress Niveditha Gowda apologized for the Kiki Challenge video, which has been trending for almost a month. The 18-year-old actress participated in the viral challenge days after the Bengaluru police banned it in the state, for which she was criticised by the Internet. Niveditha, best known for her participation in Bigg Boss Kannada, told Times Of India that she was unaware of the ban on the Kiki challenge, which is also known as the ‘In My Feelings Challenge,’ and she deleted the video after learned about its dangerous consequences.
“I just saw the post on Instagram and tried it out. As soon as I got to know about the ban on Kiki Challenge, I took it down from my Instagram account, so that people stop accepting the Kiki Challenge. I am not the one who advises people to take up the challenge and kill themselves,” Times Of India quoted her as saying. Niveditha participated in the fifth season of Bigg Boss Kannada which aired from 2017 to 2018.
Meanwhile, as per a New Indian Express report, a Kannada activist lodged a complaint against Niveditha Gowda in Bengaluru for taking up the challenge. The Bengaluru police haven’t taken any action against Niveditha as of now, the report added.
The Bengaluru Police had reportedly banned the challenge in the state last week however their official warning went up on their Twitter page on Wednesday. “Kiki Challenge may get you a KICK OF LAW not KICK OF DANCE (sic),” the Bengaluru police wrote.
The Kiki challenge, which is now a global trend, is inspired by singer Drake’s latest song In My Feeling. People around the world have been Instagramming videos of themselves hopping out of slow-moving cars and dancing next to it. The dance craze has been deemed dangerous after a few attempts went wrong.
Nia Sharma, Adah Sharma, Nora Fatehi and Kushal Tandon are among other Indian celebs who have posted videos of themselves attempting the Kiki Challenge.
Nia Sharma gives a unique twist to the ‘Kiki challenge’
Nia Sharma, who is currently seen in Ishq Mein Marjawan, is quite multi-talented. The actress loves to dance and doesn’t shy away from flaunting her skills on social media.
Nia recently posted a video, where she could be seen dancing to Canadian rapper Drake’s hit song ‘In My Feelings’. The smashing record from the album ‘Scorpion’ has led to the ‘Kiki challenge’.
As part of the challenge, the person attempting to do it has to get out of a moving car, move to the rhythm of the song along with the car and then get back inside.
Nia attempted the same in her video but didn’t do it in the moving car, and while posting it, she wrote: Amateur attempt at #inmyfeelings @champagnepapi tripping over it… PS: the car doesn’t move in Mumbai traffic.
While the video has taken over the internet, it is not the safest challenge to attempt as several videos online show people crashing into poles, falling out of the car and tripping on the road.
The risk factor involved also made the Mumbai police issue a warning on their Twitter page, a few days ago.
